The Development to Realization about our Earth's problems.
This newsletter is about the people of our planet's slow realization of earth being finite.
Humans did not really know too much about their planet. Back in the old days, people probably thought that the earth was flat. Resources were in abundance, and they thought that no matter what the people did with them, the earth was fine. As a matter a fact, there was so much land, the continents and much more, people thought it was infinite. Obviously, we were completely wrong.
We had this belief that us humans were, better, or superior to everything in earth. We had intellect and all of these other qualities, which led us to make more smarter decisions. Anything that helped us grow is what we did. Humans didn’t bother if they were destroying animal’s homes, in fact they did not even think about it. When people first saw a picture of earth they were in awe. But with that stroke of awe and sense of beauty, their was also a bitter realization. Earth was just a blue marble out of the whole solar system. With that picture, we realized that Earth was indeed finite.
Efforts of conservation arose, awareness of endangered animals came into lives. These are all really good things that were coming into play, but there was one major change that sparked the start of large scale environmentalism. Whaling was very common and a part of society. Men on ships killed whales for their oils and what not. This practice of killing whales were tedious and gruesome, and yet they still did it. Of course with more whaling, the number of whales decreased.
When filmed footage of whaling was introduced, many people protest against the whaling cause. There were whaling boats stopped, and people screaming “Save the whales!” More and more people gathered on the side of the whales, and now whaling is officially, internationally, banned!
Over time, more and more humans have gathered to help our earth and other inhabitants. This event marked the beginning of environmentalism, and things will soon go for the better. I hope you enjoyed this newsletter, bye!
